Paint, Light Fixtures, Doorknobs, & Green Vanities

Paint, Light Fixtures, Doorknobs, & Green Vanities I’m thinking we should post pictures of blue ceilings more often on Instagram, at least judging by the reaction we got to this pic from the Homearama Showhouse on Monday. Then again, it may have just been thanks to Sherry’s dancing girl emojis. As those high-steppin’ cartoon ladies indicated, we’re pretty psyched about how things are shaping up over there. The bold “Skydive” color that we chose for the office ceiling (by Benjamin Moore) came out better than we imagined, and we even got to use one of our favorite lights that we designed last year. But although there has been TONS of progress since our last update two weeks ago, it’s unfortunately not the kind that makes showing the rest of that room any more exciting. Once you look down it’s still pretty empty. Emptiness aside – the hardwood floors have all been sanded and stained/sealed (hence being covered for protection), most ...

Openhouse

Image
Openhouse As the locals siesta, the tourists crowd through Placa de Catalunya. Not far from there is Calle Fontanella, where we are heading in search of house number 16. It’s the home of Andrew Trotter, an interior designer and art director from the Yorkshire Dales, along with Spanish photographer Mari Luz Vidal and Japanese chef Nobu Kawagoe. Their home is at once private and public simultaneously: It opens as an exhibition, dinner and concert venue, and it is the inspiration for their magazine, appropriately called Openhouse. Our visit coincides with the first edition going to print and as Andrew opens the door, Mari is deep in conversation with the printer, comparing methods to ensure image quality on the weighted paper stock. Clearly, a perfectionist at work. We become acquainted with Andrew and Mari a little better and get a taste of their warm hospitality amongst cosy rooms lined with colorful geometric tiles furnished with a curation of indoor plants and design pieces. Oooo lovely magazine...

Oooo lovely magazine... Soooo many lovely things; home, style, vintage, crafts, shopping... The content, the colours, the beautifully styled photo shoots... what more could you want in one magazine? Here are a few yummy pages to 'ooh' and 'aah' over and you'll find much more when you have a flick through the online magazine here . Past issues are just as lovely too so why not have a look at the archives while you're there. There's a lovely feature on neon meets pastels styled by Charlotte Love whose work is super stunning. (I love all the different background textures in these photographs, newspaper, brown parcel paper, wood textures...) This is a nice read too, a visit to Paris, Le Marais, and an insight into charming antiques and vintage shops, primarily one called 'Au Petit Bonheur La Chance' meaning 'haphazardly'. (wouldn't you just love to rummage around for an afternoon in here...?) (All images from 91 magazine) Theres much more to...

One Room Challenge {week two}

Image
One Room Challenge {week two} We are on to Week Two of the challenge and I’m not really sure where Week One went! My plan for the challenge is to bring a little happiness – and color – to my great bones but very bland laundry room. You can see my first post of the challenge here This is what I’m starting with: Before photos of laundry room from Suburban Bitches As I’m not doing any major remodeling to the room & as I only decided to join the ORC at the last minute I kept my goals for the week simple – decide what direction I wanted to go in. Yeah, sounds easy enough but there were a few too many hours spent on pinterest while my little guy camped out in front of a choo-choo show. At first I thought I wanted to do the room in aqua and coral like this one by Maria Barros : via Vivid Hue Home Or any of these bits of beautiful aqua/coral inspiration: via m{pressions But, as much as I love that combo, I knew that I wanted to do something bold in that r...
