By Reguest....More Books!

By Reguest....More Books! Here are my favorite solutions for books.... Hide them (if you are like me :)) with some fabulous drapes or why not Ikeas bookcases with mirror doors. That way, you hide the clutter, reduce dust and you open up the room with the mirrors. Love it! 12K+ You can also paint the bookcases in an accent color that complements the room. With this example, you get more lovely color and you get a feature wall in one! 12K+ 12K+ 12K+ In the above two pictures they have removed some shelves to create a box for art....love this! You can also paint that box in a different color to create a little bit of drama. Don't forget the lighting! 12K+ You can also use some cheap Billy bookcases from Ikea and buy moulding that you can add to the top and to some to create that X pattern on the doors. Very stylish and the "Billy" feel disappears. 12K+ 12K+ 12K+ This is also very cool if you are handy...keeping the books on an angle 12K+ ! 12K+ Don't forget the most

Built-In Bench Seats

Image
Built-In Bench Seats I'm very late getting a post up today because I've been a bit distracted. I can't quite believe it, but aside from the deck, the build part of our house is complete. There's still a bit to do as far as the installation of kitchen and bathrooms go, but the end is definitely in sight. In fact the completion date has been set for the 5th of July, which is only a week away! The landscaping won't be finished, but I think it would take a lot more than that to keep us from moving in. I can't tell you how ready we are to finally get in the door. Well, not ready as far as packing goes - far from it - but ready to take possession, that's for sure! Which brings me back to today's post. The original plans included a built-in window bench seat adjacent to the dining area, but along the way, probably due to the changes to the kitchen, we found that there wasn't enough space. I do however still have my heart set on it. Especially after seeing

Build something from wood

Image
#86 – Build something from wood Task #86 of my 101 Things in 1001 Days project: build something from wood. When I added this task to my 101 Things project I assumed it would involve hammering one piece of wood onto another. I didn’t really have an idea in mind, but I was pretty sure that during the course of this 1001 days I’d dream up something simple. Simplicity was key because we don’t have much in the way of tools – just a handsaw, hammer, an electric sander, a drill and some nails and screws. And plus, I have no idea what I’m doing most of the time. My phone contract expired last month and I used it as an opportunity to leave my terrible phone provider and sign up with a new one. I decided to sign up for a plan that included an iPhone 5 and every day since then I’ve quietly congratulated myself. It’s such an elegant little device and the camera alone is a great reason to upgrade. My only complaint is that the lightning cable for the iPhone 5 renders my two old iphone docks compl

Bubbling Over Tween Bedroom

Image
Bubbling Over Tween Bedroom I wanted to join in at the party at Kelly's Korner blog but Savannah's room is in transition at the moment. So I decided to post pictures of her previous room decor. It was bright and fun! I don't remember the shade of blue for the walls and at first I thought OHhhh this is too bright but it turned out great! The letters were purchased from Hobby Lobby to form her name in the narrow space between the windows. The curtains and bedding were purchased from JCP. The outer 2 panels are tie dyed tab tops and the middle panels are blue jeweled thingies. You can see them best below the window on the right. This piece has been in our family since I was a little girl. It went from my mom to my aunt for quite a few years then returned back to my mom to use for my much younger sister (22 years younger) and then it came to me to use for Savannah's room. The adhesive bubbles and letters were from Lowes. Most of the little accessories were from the Dollar G
