Ever wanted to make a Golden Snitch? It might not fly on its own, but crafting your own decorative Golden Snitch can be a fun way to celebrate and show off your love of Harry Potter and the beloved game of Quidditch. With a few simple materials and tools, which can be found at any craft store, you can soon have your very own handcrafted Golden Snitch.
1 Make a paperclip stand for your snitch. First, take a ping pong ball, and make a small hole. This can be done with anything sharp and small. Unfold the large paper clip and form it to make an appropriate stand. Stick the paper clip into the hole in the ball.[1]
2 Paint your snitch. Put down some newspaper beneath the ping-pong ball so that the paint doesn't stain your workstation. Use a metallic gold spray paint cover your ball with at least two coats. Let it dry.[2]
3 Make the outer shell of the snitch. Take the other ping pong ball, and cut it in half, using either an exacto knife, a kitchen knife, or scissors. Draw a swirl pattern on each half of the ball that mirror each other. With a small pair of scissors, carefully cut out the swirl patterns. Paint the swirl patterns and the ping-pong halves, and let them dry. Use plain white craft glue to stick the cut-out swirls back to the ping-pong halves, somewhere where the cut-outs don't overlap with the holes in the ping-pong halves.[3]

5 Attach everything together. Glue the cut-out half-ping pong balls to the actual ball on the stand. Put some glue on the end of each wing, and tuck it in the swirls. Hold it together for a few seconds so that they stays on. Let the glue dry before you remove your finished snitch from its stand.[5]

2 Attach glitter or sequins (optional). As an alternative to using paint, you can use glitter or sequins. If you want to use glitter to decorate your snitch, just spray the ball with adhesive, and sprinkle glitter over it. Brush off excess glitter and reapply until you are happy with the result. If you want to use gold sequins, stick small pins into the sequins, and then stick them into the styrofoam ball, until the ball is evenly covered with sequins.[7]

Zoe's Modern Mint Nursery with Gold, Pink, and Black Accents Zoe's Nursery Lizzie Stewart of 346 Living set out to create a space for her daughter Zoe's nursery that was both reflective of Lizzie's style, but also a calming, peaceful space for Zoe that would grow with her. The result is this beautiful modern space that is sophisticated, feminine and clean with a touch of glam. Lizzie fell in love with a pale mint, pink, black, and gold palette, and it works so well for this space. After a lot of hunting, she finally found the perfect shade for the walls, Lighter Mint by Sherwin Williams. I love the shots of adorable baby Zoe and Lizzie in the room; it looks like a great fit for this cute pair! Lizzie styled the room quite smartly for the budget by: 1) Reusing items she already had, like the antique dresser and gold mirrored side table 2) Going DIY on a few pieces, like the IKEA drapes she trimmed in grosgrain ribbon and pom pom trim for the closet ones and the crib s...

The Coolest Built-In Bunk Beds (and DIY Brass Hardware) Christina is one of my favorite people. She is as kind, talented and gorgeous as the day is long. The last time I was in Arizona, I swung by her new house for a little tour. I’m going to beg her to let me share everything here on LGN when she’s finished (I’ll probably have to arm wrestle the editors at Elle Decor for it – it’s SO good!). In case you haven’t seen these yet, and since we were talking about cool bunk beds the other day, I thought I’d share the built-in bunks Christina did in her triplet sons’ room. So, so cool right? That railing is unreal. One of my favorite parts of the bed is the DIY hardware Christina made by spray painting pipes! I’ve made curtain rods out of pipes before, but never oversize pulls. The brass spray paint takes them to a whole new level. I love how chunky these are. Anything smaller would have been lost on the beds. See what I mean by talent...
